Typical Flat rates pricing examples. Many of the common residental repairs cost are in $150 - $250 range including the service call, diagnostic fee and replacement part. One price does not fit all, each job is unique.

Service Call* fee $75 - $150 to show up & discuss your electrical request or repairs.

Diagnostic fee $50 - $450 to identify the problem. Troubleshooting and testing an electrical issue can be very time consuming due to shorts, open splices, broken wires, hidden wiring & junction boxes in the wall or ceiling. If the electrician can't find the electical problem area you should look to recieve up to a 50% diagnostic fee reduction.

Pricing Methods
Flat rate pricing compared to Time and Material (T&M) pricing.
If you hire qualified electric contractors the two pricing methods are very comparable. Example of typical repair cost to replace a bad light switch in the hallway.

A Flat rate price contractor may charge a diagnostic (and or service call) fee of $50 to $250 and then an additional flat fee to repair the problem they have located. Example: $50 Service call fee, $50 diagnostic fee and $50 flat fee to replace the switch plus $8 for the switch. Total cost $158

A T&M service contractor may charge an service call fee and repair time for the problem plus for the switch. Total cost $154

*What are the Service call, Travel or Truck fees. Service technician covering the cost for the their driving time and vehicle expenses incurred traveling to the job site to check on the electrical issues.
